The rockets will fly on Sunday August 24, at the Lake Nokomis soccer fields. For the past few years, Cub dad David Boucha has run the annual August event that lets Cubs launch rockets skyward. David brings tons of different rockets and sets up an elaborate launch site. This gets the boys pretty excited. Please mark your calendar for this great event. Launches start at 6:00pm. Ten boys from from Dens 1 and 5 participated in the biannual "Webelos Experience" event held October 6 at Stearns Camp.
The boys arrived under a menacing sky full of distant thunderstorms, but things soon cleared and the camp was dry and cool. The boys played fun field games and visited stations throughout the camp where they learned about everything from vintage guns to search and rescue dogs, to radio-controlled aircraft and military vehicles. Blacksmith operations were on display the boys had an opportunity to meet requirements for almost every activity pin.
