Summer Camping

The summer camp registration drive is now on. Our goal is to have each den submit payment and a roster no later than the February 8th Pack meeting. Here's how it will work:

  1. Each den will appoint a camping coordinator. The camping coordinator will collect the payments and create the roster.
  2. The den camping coordinator will deliver the payments and rosters to the Pack camping coordinator no later than the February 8th Pack meeting. The Pack camping coordinator will make the reservations and manage the payments via the Council's reservation system.
  3. The Pack camping coordinator will disburse all camping prep material to the den coordinators in the Spring.

Camps:

Camps are organized around ranks. We register boys according to the rank they hold in the Spring. If your boy is a Wolf in January, he'll be a Bear at the end of the Cub year. You would register your boy as a Bear.

Tigers, Wolves, Bears and Webelos I go to Phillippo Scout Reservation near Cannon Falls, MN.
This is a two-night stay with meals in a mess hall and tents provided.

Webelos II go to Tomahawk Camp in Wisconsin
This is a three-night stay with an optional 4th night of "Outpost", where the boys travel to a different part of the camp and live a bit more ruggedly.

Cost: $100.00 per person

Tomahawk offers an extended camping experience called "Webelos" outpost. It's one extra day of adventure. If your den chooses this extra day, the cost is an additional $30.00.

Payment

Parents pay the full fare for camp. Cubs however get to use their Christmas Wreath Sale Credits against the cost of camping. If your boy sold 15 wreaths this year and camp costs $90.00, he goes to camp for $75.00. Coordinators should note each child's wreath credit on the roster, and the parent's cheques should reflect the adjusted price. The Pack pays the difference. Den leaders attend camp free of charge.

Tips:

  • You do not have to wait until the February 8th Pack meeting to submit your payments and rosters. The Pack coordinator will submit your reservations as soon as your payment is received.
  • Dates: The “Pack 56” dates for Cub  camps are recommended dates. However, YOU DO NOT HAVE TO GO ON THESE DATES. Please choose a date that suits the majority of your den.
  • Please encourage everyone in your den to make payments promptly. Reservations can’t be made for campers who have not yet paid. Please do not put campers on the roster until payment has been made.
  • Encourage adults to take responsibility for knowing how many wreath credits their Cub has. This number is printed on the Cub application they received prior to the January Pack meeting.
The Pack camping coordinator doesn’t know how many credits a cub would be due.
  • Do not let a Cub miss out on a wonderful camping experience because of money. If the expense of camping is a hardship for anyone in your den, let them know that there is assistance. Please let the Pack camping coordinator know if help is needed.
